Hi Gang,
I finally got around to taking some outdoor pix of this. It's an HO scale Athearn PS-2 2600 rib side covered hopper, in CSXT re-stencil. This is not based strictly upon a specific prototype, but I wanted to try out Tom's technique (
http://therailwire.net/forum/index.php/topic,19590.0.html) of rusting using a thin layer of airbrushed-on Burnt Umber acrylic paint, sprayed on and then scrubbed off with a stiff brush & vertical strokes. I'm pretty pleased with the look, tho I used pretty thin paint so it created a really subtle streaking. I think a thicker paint mix probably would have come out with that more strongly-defined "dry streaks" kind of look.
As always, comments & feedback are all highly appreciated!
Ed
Edit: I may re-do that one tag, the more I look at it the less I like it....
