BTW Ed, the detailing around your track is excellent.

Very nice on how the ties are partially covered with dirt & stuff.  The weathering of the rail is nice also.

Cool!  So just to prove my "toolishness" it looks like you just glue the length's of I-beam to the outside edge of the frame vertically (i.e. so that the I is standing upright) and paint them to match the frame color?

Bingo!
The trick is cutting it right so it lines up with the fuel tank, and doesn't interfere with the trucks. You can see (if you squint) that I did a better job on the front than the back.

I think you're thinking of the wrong beam.

The one I did was well under the body, about flush with the fuel tank (not the air tanks). It's tough to see in there (because it's black, in a shadow).

It never comes anywhere near the handrails.

It's parallel to the frame and fuel tank.

In the first photo (with the cab), you can see it just below the sill.

It's recessed enough to be even with the fuel tank.
