Just wondering if anyone has/knows where to find a Pullman Standard 54 seat (9 room?) corrugated coach?

Thanks,
The S.

The Rivarossi is a 52 seater.

The Wally is a 64 right?

That puts us into car side makers I guess. What railroad?

Western Maryland ;D ...knee Chesapeake and Ohio ...knee Pere Marquette. I just found the actual P-S plan number 7481 and lot number 6819 and it's "official" type is 54-L.

Looks like Amtrak, C&O, CE&I, L&N, PM, and WM had them. Would make a great car-sides kit!

Is the C&O Rowa PS coach a contender? That auction site might feature one....

I believe that Intermountain or Walthers may be introducing something similar.

Western Maryland ;D ...knee Chesapeake and Ohio ...knee Pere Marquette.

Oh, I'd like one of those too - in red and white.

What plan is this?

Nope that's a P-S 52 seat coach. I have plenty in the ACME labs backshop to be rebuilt into B&O/C&O livery. It's close but I'd like to find something closer since ROWA cars are getting harder to come by on the cheap.

Ah, so I'm guessing the IM car is a 52 seater too, similar to the Rowa car (but different than the Rivarossi car).

Thats a 52 seat coach which is identical to the ROWA cars. The IMRC cars are nice but the windows are a tad shoddy. Kato, cRapido, and Rowa all use the glazing with incorporated seal/trim while Con-cor and IMRC use the carbody to showcase the seal/trim, this makes the windows sit back farther than they should. I'd rather have a nicely detailed ROWA car over the IMRC stuff. Not to mention I was not impressed with the B&O sleepers IMRC put out a few months ago, for the money I'd rather have the cRapido's.

Isn't it a nightmare when you try and follow the prototype. On a lighter note, I'd insist two passengers stand!;o)))

Gerry

Well, the ROWA car will be the acceptable stand-in as it will match well against some other cars I painted and built. Hell I might even bite the bullet and give it the ole hackeroo to make what I need.

The Walthers car is a Pullman-Standard Plan 7484 64-seat coach which is pretty much unique to the New York Central (and subsequent owners).
Both the old Rowa car and the new Centralia/Intermountain car are modeled after the Pullman-Standard Plan 7600(A) 52-seat divided coach. This could represent cars used by the C&O, Pere Marquette, NKP, ACL, SCL, D&RGW, SP, C&NW, D&H and AMTRAK.
Modeling the NYC of the early 1950s

I think the C&O only had 2 54 Seat "Coaches" from the PM. The ere classifed Chair-Lounge cars I think. Not likely we'll ever see those. But I can;t wait to get my hand on the 52 Seat coaches from Centralia/IM. C&O had 59 of those and the covered the needs of all their Postwar name trains.

"This could represent cars used by the... Pere Marquette..."

Not so... the PM cars were drastically different from the PM coach - lounge cars.

"I think the C&O only had 2 54 Seat 'Coaches' from the PM."

The key word here should be "only kept" not "only had."  The rest of the coaches and coach - lounge blunt-end observation cars were sold to the Chicago & Eastern Illinois, which made great use of them on their Florida trains that were operated in conjunction with the L&N/NC&StL/ACL/FEC.  While photos are hard to come by the cars were like nothing else on the C&O roster.  This is the car type that WM had.

Ok so to get this back on track, is there any currently made car sides that come close to the 7481 plan? Does Eastern Seaboard Models want to tackle this beastie to get some small roadnames that may generate some interest?
