Spending this holiday weekend cleaning up the layout room and workbench.  I may break out the airbrush later between church and Easter dinner.

Nothing much to look at but the home layout is 7'8" closer to running around the entire room. What your seeing is actually 9'4" long, but the first 18" was already there.  ;D

No modeling. Been cleaning and organizing to try and get ready for more modeling. The workshop was a disaster.

I did start work on a set of handy online gadgets for modelers: http://whiteriverandnorthern.net/handy_1.htm

Richie, a modest corrective suggestion.  If you use that trailer, you'd do well to just apply the black speedlettering from a Microscale diesel set.  It would be pretty close for one of the earlier trailers from the late 50's.  The red panel/white lettering didn't appear until the late 60's on much more modern trailers.

.....but the flat car adds enough class and respect to make everything look A-Ok...... ;D

Finished laying track across the big Peace River bridge.  Hooked up a DC power pack and ran a few locomotives and cars across the 8 foot monster.  Nothing fell into the river, so I declared the project a success.

Thanks for the info Lee , I didn't like those decals and how it turned out anyway . It will be stripped and re-lettered in the future some time , but not right away .

I worked on some Atlas USRA rebuilt box cars. The cars with Andrews trucks and those with Bettendorf trucks ride on different height, what looks just wrong in a consist.
Mostly by chance I saw that these trucks ride not on a flat plane, as others, but on a small round cone.  Enlarging the truck mounting holes of the Bettendorf trucks let them slip over this cone and ride on the flat plane below.  And, MAGIC, the car has the same height as those riding on Andrews trucks  ;D
The only modification on the car floor is is filing the two small dimples on one side of the car which provide for the three point truck mount. They must be level with the bolster plane.

I found out that the metal car floor seems to be the same with all three USRA box car types.  So I also lowered some USRA Double Sheathed and Single Sheathed cars that are equipped with Bettendorf trucks.
