....why yes; it does bear a passing resemblance to an Alco product....maybe Alco should have looked into suing EMD for intellectual property violations.......imagine hiding an SD 45 in that car body...tisk, tisk tisk...
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Look at the trucks, blomberg sideframes not the ones usually found on a Mehano RS unit.

Possibly re-powered with someone else's mechanism.

a really bad version of an Alco C420 on trade in trucks.  the funny thing about that model, the proto ICG #523 would have been a former GM&O GP-30 riding on AAR B trucks and would have still been in the GM&O paint.  IC/ICG never had Alco diesels.

Trivia - the mehano Blomberg sideframes (GP40) were easily swapped for the AAR-B sideframes (C420). I think I still might have some in my parts bin! :P

Maybe it's a GP45 disguised as an Alco? Find the guy who's selling the SD30 and ask him...

Really? That's odd because we have a photo at my club of a couple of IC C636s leased by Canadian Pacific in the early 1970s. Even had the same number as this one here...

i meant "these diesels"  the C420's.  sorry.  i'm well aware of the big Century's they had.  they had 5 or so of them and they all went to Precision i think around 1980-81? they also had RS and S models.  just no C420's.

It looks like a passable representation to me, and indeed I will pass on it! I hate to be nitpicky about it, but really, it should be numbered 7000.

You all need to brush-up on your diesel spotting. It clearly lacks flared radiators making it an SD45-2  :P
