How long will it be before they show us how to add DCC to a tree?
the OP is looking to model the late 70's - i'm sure they trimmed a bit of the redundant Wabash, WLE, and Nickel Plate trackage
Looks like Mark4design is the way to go for hi-hoods then - I had looked at using Atlas parts, but none are currently available as spares. Perhaps when the next round of SD35s hits the stores.....

It wasn't until 1986 or so that NS made a large effort to lease, sell or abandon redundant trackage.
For what it is worth, Atlas says a container with Norfolk and Western SD35 high hoods shipped in December. Wrong paint scheme though for the late 70s, unless some of them stayed around in the hamburger scheme.
