Ian-- I finally got my camera out to take a picture of mine.  My biggest objection to this building is that the window mullions are just printed on clear window material which you attach to the back of the walls which are very thick giving the windows an unrealistic setback.

Best regards,

Roger

Huh.  Window etchings...  I seem to remember pursuing that very concept...

IIRC it was very important to spray primer on the plaster or it'll suck up paint faster than Chulvis with a pitcher of Margaritas.

Let me be very clear on one thing here, Judge. No one, no thing, no way can suck down a pitcher of Margaritas faster than me. Clear? Thank you. Now back to Ian's thread.  ;D ;D

Progress update on the 1st mill complex. I was able to get the base brick color on building #1 using washes of  DecoArt's Americana "Heritage Brick".  Mortar and weathering washes will need to be added next after adding some details. Micro Structures fire escapes will be added as well. I also added a Walthers water tank to the complex. The kit was pretty nice, but would be even better if maybe someone offered some etched brass legs as replacements.

Just a tad bit more progress. Started adding the first weathering washes of India Ink and Raw Umber. Still need to add several details like finishing the roof, boarded up windows, wall bolts and fire escapes.

Looks good, Ian.  I like the brick color and I'm looking forward to the windows and weathering.

Are those boards really green?  IF so, be prepared for a LOT of Christmas building jokes!

Just a smidge of progress.

Added an access road, which is far from finished as it needs paint, markings, and weathering.

Good looking scenery there. I'm guessing the road is styrene? Nice clean edges. What kind of flocking is the grass. It has a nice green color (as far as my green colorblind sees) better than the WS flock I am using.

Yes, the road is styrene. I normally use Hydrocal, but building the forms for the road in this location turned out to be a pain in the a$$, so I went with styrene.

The flock is 2 parts Silfor 4mm Late Summer, to 1 part Silfor 4mm Autumn. They are mixed with a mini blender and then added to the scenery with a Noch GrasMaster.

Thanks. I have not tried Silfor flocking. Looks like I am going to have to get some. That's a lot better green to me than the standard WS stuff.

I hear you with the Hydrocal. I think that's why I've skipped a whole bunch of roadways. Where the fun in that.

Very Nice scene you got going there!!!!!!!!!!! How much does that Hydrocal building weigh? I really like those. I only have modules at the present and was wondering if that might be too heavy on them since they are transported.
