I feel like this is a brilliant move on Matt's part.  Not so much because it might bring new people to the hobby, but it definitely puts the Fox Valley Models name front and center in the model railroading community.  It's good marketing, even for those who don't want one.  There's probably some HO guys scratching there heads thinking, "O.K. Now who is this Fox Valley Models?"

Over at Trainorders, which is totally HO oriented (ie.  "wow that's really n-scale?? - it has reporting marks on the ends")  - a lot of people know Matt and have been dying for him to get into HO.

Does anybody else notice what is happening. N scale is moving in a growth spurt. FVM, BLMA, Bluford, WOT and Exactrail have jumpstarted that growth spurt. This is definately going to bring some people to the scale. Not just newbie model railroaders but some in other scales too!!

I swear, a psychologist could do a PhD dissertation on model railroader's feelings towards Kato. It's a strange twisted, love-hate relationship.  "I hate them because they don't do anything Eastern - Please won't you do something eastern"

Throw in Trainworx too.  These small guys all seem to be accelerating the pace of their new releases.  It's good for us.

Throw in Rapido as well; yep; the "former fringe" players are making awesome attempts..... nice to see.

Sorry if I excluded any of the upstarts. But I guess my point is, how many of these were around 10 years ago vs now. The choices and avialable products are much more numerous now and that's going to benefit most of us in the long run......some of us sooner.

What I think is cool, knowing a couple of these guys, is that they are passionate about trains and are putting out products they are excited about.  Some of the bigger companies have lost touch with that passion.  There's something to be said for these small one man shows.

we forget there have been some losses too.  Nu-Line, Sunrise, LBF, Huberts, Mocolova, and Walthers have all vanished from Nscale along the way...
