Thanks guys!

Dave, an additional dual 48" tube fixture is in the plans for above the extension.  These shots were taken with a desk lamp adding additional lighting, so your shadow observation is even more acute in real life.

Man, I haven't touched that blog in a while...  Might be time!

while i think it looks good and adds to the layout, it has a rushed look about it - not sure if that's the unsteady hand and low light and wonky colors playing a trick, or if it lacks the requisite layer of dust to blend.

regardless, yeah, it's fookin awesome.

How long will it be before they show us how to add DCC to a tree?

Part of it is the colors...  In addition to the lighting issue, much of the ground cover and ballast was still wet.  They dry to more muted tones.  I also have not yet groomed the ballast yet (filling holes, removing ballast from the rail web and tie tops, etc.).  I work in layers; this is layer 1.  Also needed is some weathering on the bridge.

A little ballasting and scenery work...  but not much.

My gallbladder went bad about a month and a half ago and I ended up having surgery last week.  Before the surgery I was in a lot of pain and vomiting a lot and didn't want to work on trains; I lost about 10 pounds in a month.  I'm pretty much back to normal now (for what that's worth!) so am planning on doing some substantial work in the near future.

something came to mind here.

If the day comes when Dave settles down, he could build the "other side" of the yard on another door, and have a large portion of a basement layout finished in NO TIME..

Was it designed to be added onto in the future, or did it just work out that way?

Update as of 4 October 2009:

Going is slow due to increased work and family activities...  But I did manage to tear up the strips of roadbed between the tracks in the classification yard that didn't look right (they'd started to curl) and replace it with Sculptamold.  I then painted and ballasted it with cinder.

Don't worry...  Both those gons have a date with some acrylic washes and powdered chalks.

Just had one of those moments tonight, easing an L1s 2-8-2 through the yard with a short train...  Even with the raw Styrofoam and wires visible in the background, it all just felt right.  This was a very GOOD idea.
