It's most definately NOT MTL. When T55 did the HO model, they copmplained that the SD70ACE/m-2 was delayed because there were so many versions. Then Kato told me last November that the GEVO were a real pain with different versions. WHO KNOWS,

I do know this. Athearn has been retooling old HO loco's. Aside from the Genesis motor on alot iof them they have been doing road-specific version with some of the correct details. They bought T55's tooling and Mr. Engstrom said oit would late 2010 befaore they showed up on the HO market. I wonder if they had already been working on an N scale version when T55's tooling fell into their lap. Knowing how proto-oriented the new guys are it would mean that if BLMA, Rapido, FVM were to try it and get some of the correct detailing done, they will be spending a whole lotta bucks and in the current financial environment, they might have a hard time finding a line of credit for it. MY money is still on Athearn, but cant' count out one of the new kids on the block.

Well, kudos on the advertising at least - the best fun I've had on a new product announcement ever...

I think the "winks and nods" out there are pointing at Athearn, but I still wonder if Kato would do one anyway. Kato and Athearn both did SD70M's remember.

What could you do with one or two variants - ie. one of the more common UP versions and one other?

And BTW, Kato has done odd things like one of the oddball versions of the SD70M flares and the CNW version of the AC4400 - when there are hundreds of UP units they could have done????

But don't you think that if it was Craig, he would include his company name to capture website traffic in the mean time?  Like, "these aren't out yet, but in the meantime, buy some grab irons or this brass bridge"?

I almost think that it's a newcomer, someone who doesn't have any other products to advertise.

there are at least two different variants on the blueprint ad...

...who ever will produce them, I only hope there will be SPAREPARTS available ! (which means I hope it's not Athearn...)  ;)

Hey it might be Bachmann, I mean they have all those 8-40CW's that no one wants cause Atlas has a better version and they could slip a GEVO shell on top and hey presto thousands of prototypically incorrect loco's to annoy Rob with..... ;D ;D ;D

These are not vaporware and those who have seen preproduction samples have
commented that they have some groundbreaking new features.

I found it.  Blueprint for Excellence, Groundbreaking...  it all adds up.  BTW, a GEVO'S "what" is coming soon?  The poor apostrophe...  [Just call me Thread Killer.]

Gary, I beat the hell out of Google as well - no evidence of this phrase being used before.in model railroading.

Think about it...  it must be BLI.  Would Atlas, Kato or Athearn incorporate "groundbreaking" features?  What would they be?  Sound of some kind?

Who would have pre-production samples ready to show? Isn't this really too early for Kato, Athearn or Atlas with the things on their plate?

My guess is now BLI - but Kato will do them too - since they are addressing a different market slice...
