what a cool price I thought, went to the website and they even sell an export version w/o the chemicals for $92.60 instead of $150 something and that is how the checkout looks like...

Sub Total:  $92.60 
Tax:  $0.00 
Shipping & Handling:  $55.45 
Total:  $148.05

yeah right, I sure will place an order...

That is high for shipping. For me they just put the chemicals in a zip-lock and send them UPS.

Want better results, use hydrochloric acid. Better know what you are doing first. HCl works 1000% better than Ferric Chloride, but can be harmful if not properly used.

You need an aggressive acid to etch the detail fast before you lose the detail due to "undercutting". That is the natural tendency of the acid to eat the metal under the resist from the side. Here is .010 brass half etched to produce layers, including rivets.

I never thought about using other acids like hydrochloric acid.  This looks like the best I could find that was reasonable.

I have acid with the percentages as what you listed. Try your local swimming pool shop for it. They use it to adjust the pH in pools. $20-25 a gallon seems right. Bob, is this the stuff you use?

For carrier sheets I use matte photo paper. I think waxed paper is what come with the kit, but I cut mine up the first time and never used it again. Regular paper might stick to it, but you could test it out with a small piece.
