Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Finally got a little free time to start the scenery base for my baseball display. Used a super fine sieve to get the smallest grains of actual clay from the local field.

Great shots, everybody!

SNFF 2009 01 18

Finished the wall next to the farmyard.  From last week:

This week:

A few more shots, been refreshing the scenery:

I must say, it's not the best, but it's satisfying and relaxing, and I'm thankful
that I'm able to do it and most of all, enjoy the process.

Eventually, will get around to doing update on the layout

I worked on my GP15-1's and laid a bunch of track in the lower helper town. I'll get some photos of the track up later.

I'm laying asphalt and planting grass..

I did get to hit a sweet flea market and found some good bargains.   Everything is just too shiny for me though ;)

Also finished up my first stir-stick load  ;)  I went a bit haywire on the weathering on the flat..  LOL

I started ballasting the inside of the track.

And kept on pushing around with subterrain work. This area will be home to a water tower, field, and a pond.

Opie, let me suggest that you rough in your scenery first. I usually leave ballast as the last thing in an area. This way you have a chance to fine tune your track, and make sure everything works first .. just a thought

Yes, and following on John's suggestion, I encourage you to have a look at our Tutorials section.  There's a lot of really good information there that will help you cultivate your potential...  I especially offer this particular thread...

OK, I'm a little late, but I did get some work done this weekend.  I really should update my original thread - maybe next week!

Anyway, here are a few grab shots of my Delaware River bridge (I didn't set up fancy lights, so my apologies for the grab shots):

I have 6 "sides" assembled to this stage (for the 3 spans I will need), and I am now adding the diagonal bracing.  Traincat (Bob) could really knock this out of the park in brass, but I'd have to mortgage my house to afford it!

I am building from scratch.  The black girders are Central Valley, and the white pieces are Evergreen strip and sheet.  I used some Gold Medal "Z" bracing on the end girders.

On the east end, I will use an Atlas through girder over the PRR Bel-Del track, and a Micro Engineering deck girder.

This project literally sat in the closet for about 18 months, so it's good to get back in the saddle.
