here a couple of pics of a modular HO layout that I have built with 2 friends. It depicts (fictionally) a single mainline that runs through an industrial district on its approach to Chicago.

The time setting is 1976 - 1980

companies that run on the line are SP, RG, CR and the SCI (South Chicago Industrial) which is my personal company. from time to time a diverted late running Amtrak train can also be seen.

I agree with those above. That's about as good as it gets as far as industrial scenes go. Really captures the feel of an older industrial district. Let's see more!!

Very nice! Yes I agree that brickwork is amazing. Just the down and gritty city look I'm going for.

I wonder if that brick is printed sheets? But either way it does look good.

yes, the brickwork is paperbrick printed on my printer.
