Looks good Chuck!   We were just saying that maybe the Silflor tufts were all starting to look a little too uniform in different places on our modules (or maybe I've just looked at too many photos of Pelle Solbergs layout?).  Either way, adding a variety of textures, weeds, tufts, grass and fine foams is making it all start to come together.  I'll keep experimenting and continue to report back. To me that's the fun part.

I love your module, it's awesome. You can also do your trick with the middle of a dirt road. Pele' and those tufts on the
new layout are kind of monotonous - Love Lou Sassi and David Frary's techniques too.

Ok, not particularly exciting updates, but progress is progress...

I've had to force myself to start making batches of trees. Going through boxes of SuperTrees and trying to find good candidates, trimming the junk off them and then temporarily "planting" them on a large piece of foam to be spray painted just isn't very exciting stuff to work on. However if I do them in batches they will eventually get done and I still need a LOT of them.  So another tray is done:

Also worked on the coal area a bit. Added the coal truck and worker and also realized that the existing coal wasn't nearly as black and shiny as it once was due to all the other scenery work I was doing, so I touched that up as well and will need to go over it with a vacuum later to remove the excess and the larger pieces that don't look quite right.  Coal loader/conveyor is a Model Tech kit.

Thanks for the video, btw. That's such a simple approach, but one seldom taken.

Until now...

I hear you Chris. Decided to be stubborn and weather it up a bit, add my own coal and get it on the layout.

Another batch of trees went down on the siding extension module:

Got another flat of them painted and waiting for leaves.

That is more trees than I have made in my life.

Do we get a tree video too?   :D

I'm in Florida with family for vacation for the next week, but since I have plenty of trees left to make, a video should be pretty easy. :D

Speaking of trees, I got another tray of them down making it nearly all the way to the pond (need to fill that little alcove I have left). Then on to the other side of the pond...

And another flat of trees. Up to about 6-7 linear feet of module covered so far...

Alright, after a little vacation, I finally got another flat of trees built and most of the forest on the siding extension is done:

Added a few extras to one of the curves:

Then tried to take a few sunset shots:

Lastly added a few more vehicles like this one:

Still have more trees to make and I'm starting to burnout, so it may be time to move on to something else!      :)

LashedUp,
The SuperTrees look great. I have seen them mentioned in the forum a few times but didn't look into it much. Now I'm at the point that I need to add some tree variation in my forest. To get started with the SuperTrees, would you do with the starter kit?

Yes. That will give you an idea whether you have the patience to make them. :)

I'm going to try and put a video together on how I make them.  Hopefully in the next week. Have to motivate myself to make some more.

I'm interested in what flocking you use for the trees.

Somehow I have never clicked on this thread, but I just skimmed through it. Your modeling is excellent! I love cleanly constructed layouts, and clean workspaces. You excel in these categories. Now I've gotta go back through the thread in more detail!
