Removing Kato Loco decals

I apologize if this question has been asked here before.  Can anyone tell me the safest way to remove road number decals from a Kato loco without harming the paint finish?  I want to reapply some decals with different numbers and thought I would ask here for some guidance.  Thanks in advance for the input.

99% alcohol and a Qtip...

Acetone and Floquil's Diosol also work well however they can remove the paint underneath or damage the plastic if too much is used

Kato re-sells "Mr Color Thinner" solvent which is supposed to work.   Haven't tried it yet myself.
