After a week's hiatus (out of town), we are back to Montreal, Quebec, on August 5, 1956.

MTC 952 is an even older car than our chartered car. Note that Montreal cars lack hooks to hold down the trolley pole and most lack "trolley catchers"

MTC 1606, a one-man suburban car, arrives Cartierville from Garland. Two-man car were green with cream trim and windowband. One-man cars were cream with wine red trim. Busier lines used two-man cars.

There are three cars in this photograph of MTC 1608 at the racetrack trolley terminal, a busy place that day.

More Montreal next week.

Here are some for the boys who like blue:

Norfolk Southern 38Q heads north climbing out of the Potomac River valley

Norfolk Southern 37Q heads south out of Vardo and is about to cross Rench Road

and one for the shortline fans:

The Winchester Western local heads south under MD 68 (Lappans Road) on the former PRR near Downsville.

You`ll never find a Philly cheese steak on a menu in Philadelphia. It`s called a cheesesteak and we all know where it`s from...

Yes the use of a modified freight car , or is that a something else , as a mobile stage is terrific . Either side or both can open for use or ventilation , already raised . The drummer may hear more of his drums than he wants though . Easy set up , secure storage , loads of room . Very cool indeed .

You know, I'm glad to see at least a part of what I did round here back in the day lives on.  The VARR may be dead, but the thread I invented and the name I gave it (The Proto Photo) live on.

Ah, to have a legacy.
