Here's a thread over on Trainboard regarding Bluetooth control. I still think he has a long way to go before it is a viable alternative to DCC.

with the coming of the full duplex wireless throttle system from Digitrax, this is really not likely to go anywhere.  the system lacks the ability to have multiple throttles and there is no handheld device - seems its geared for slot cars and this would need too many modifications to be "ported" over for model railroad use.

i'm not interested in this for a few reasons, but the largest being there already is a system of multiple train control that allows for much more flexibility in place on my layout and only cost $57.00 more than this - the Digitrax Zephyr system is very cost effective and feature rich compared to the very limited system blue tooth system.

How long will it be before they show us how to add DCC to a tree?

I would much prefer a WiFi decoder than Bluetooth.   But I think as Steve said you will find a load of limitations with this.   ...but maybe they can sync with my TomTom and get directions to the next yard, or make a phone call...

Personally
I would find a bluetooth headset 'hive' for radio/trainphone simulation to be a useful thing for operating night.  But, bluetooth throttles seem a bit like turning a brick into a rocket ship...
