AT LAST!!! The prototype of the 380ft Whitford Curved Chord Parker bridge is finished in time for NTS.

Double Track, Pin-Connected, Super heavy duty, I stopped counting the raised rivets at 19,000, Built directly from copies of the original builders plans, Designed to be built by anyone of average skills. Lots of pics (14), hope you enjoy.

That is incredible...every time i see this sort of thing, it helps keep me motivated to finish my own projects (none of which will likely ever look THAT nice)

Wanna do B&O's Cheat River bridge next?? ;D

Looks great!

A minor thing I just pinged BLMA on as well....

For all your bridges it would be nice if you could post clearances (for the ones with sides and or overhead bits); and state if they clear the NTrak oversized gauge or not.  Also, on double track bridges the track to track centerline distance.

One other idea; how about some auto bridges of similar designs?  Often the same body of water had a railroad bridge and a two or four lane car bridge over it nearby.....

Leo, while I understand the need for information about clearances, I hope the expectation is not to tamper with prototype dimensions to satisfy N-trak's somewhat stale, although obviously successful standards...  Thou shalt not let the tail wag the dog...

As for making a highway bridge, one of the advantages of Bob's bridges is that they come in kit form...  Bash away my motoring friend, bash away!

Leo, 1.95" clearance, 1.25" C2C, Already working on the Auto Bridges. You can use my Lenticular (193ft) for 2-lane auto traffic just as the real one is today.

You want it Chris, you know the drill  ;D

Tim, are you referring to the 2 double track Warrens at Rowlesburg that went into the drink in 1985?? Or the Deck Girders that replaced them??

Absolutely.  I don't want him to modify things a bit, I just want to know if I can use them without violating NTrak specs or not. 

1.95" is 26 scale feet, if my math is right.  That should be enough to clear, 23' high by 18' wide is the extended clearance.  1.25" is the minimum center to center as well.  As I told BLMA, indicating which ones work might get a few more sales as those building modules will know what works.

The Traincat bridges have caused me to rethink some upcoming modules I'm planning, and I believe they will feature at least one of these wonderful bridges.

Hey Leo, The HO version (52.5") is in redesign to make it a 700ft triple track N-Trak bridge. That would make the bridge comparable to the big Louisville & Indiana (ex PRR) bridge over the Ohio River @ Louisville. Now THAT would be a module!!
