Horn is on the wrong side,   :P

yeah and there is the wrong antenna...
...but Skibbe, I really like the detail you did ad to the antenna (what is it, is it a coax cable or a tube with the antenna cable in it ?) really nice detail.

Thanks Steve, I just clipped the top off of a couple BLMA lift rings for the standoffs and bent a piece of .006" wire for the cable.  It fit nicely in the channel of the clipped lift rings, and a little super glue held it in place just fine.  I'll just have to remember to use it on a real ex-ATSF engine next time, not this apparently ex-BN/FW&D unit...

Maybe I should look at adapting our range of GP38-2 long hoods to suit the LL units.
Skibbe, I have a package going out to Mark Runyan tomorrow morning. I could throw in a hood for your perusal (I presume you still hook up with him on a regular basis). I don't own any of the LL GP38-2s but I am guessing that mods would not be major.

Good looking work so far Mike!

For the fans, you will need to sand the top down (at least the thickness of the metal which is .006") so they'll look the right height.

Ah, that should do it, and maybe just using a bit more superglue will blend them into the shroud better.

Mike , don't take it to heart , your modeling skills are of museum quality . I know that if you had a shot of it , the model would have been a clone . You have done that so many times before , some of which were started from scratch . To have anything to point out is almost unheard of in your case , so I and others are just playing with you . You have had more pee free cereal than anyone I know of . Anyone who has done any detailing or numbering of locos for any period of time knows that once done as you have , with a non exact photo of the exact loco , number included , and of the era , or year that was being attempted to model , has experienced the sunken feeling when a shot surfaces , only to show differences which were impossible to be anticipate prior . We all look to you for inspiration , I from so far back that I am over the horizon and under the water .

Mike , don't take it to heart...  ...so I and others are just playing with you .

I should have added a smiley to the last post!  This is an atmosphere that I love.  I'm lucky to have found a bunch of like-minded modelers that are now part of Modutrak.  Lashedup is one of them, so the comment about peeing in my cheerios was meant in fun as well.  Between he, and Bill Denton, and Keith Kohlman and others, we have such a wealth of information that we're always pointing out corrections that could be made in each others models.  And we're all willing to take it to heart and just make a better model.  We don't get upset.  It's one of the reasons I had to coin the slogan "Better modeling through peer pressure"  I'm glad the Railwire atmosphere is similar.  Jamie pushed us over the scenery edge with his static grass experiments.  Bill made us throw all our hood units on the floor and step on them after he started replacing handrails with wire.  And Keith keeps pounding out freight car after freight car so that I feel bad when my 50 car train has two MTL PS-1's in it, when he can put together 100+ car trains with 100 different prototype inspired models.

This modern stuff has been a fun diversion for me lately.  I don't mind anyone pointing out flaws, though I do try not to make mistakes.  I don't have a library built up for anything past about 1968, so it's kind of a fish out of water thing for me at the moment.  But I'm a fast learner, so I'll catch up eventually!  Research is fun.

Research is fun...

...and believe me, it is even more fun if you are sitting at the end of a dial-up connection ! (yeah right !)   ;)
(still no broadband available in the neck of the woods where I live...  :( )
