A mysterious hooded figure was spotted skulking about the Main Street overpass on the west side of Seaford, Delaware earlier today...

Somewhere under my Red White and Black exterior there remains a coat of blue paint... ;)

I think they used the same track gang that did some work at 30th street station:

Wow, that makes a lot of model railroads look good! :o

I somehow hope that the camera angle or something is exaggerating the transition from the turnout.

Lee, can you explain how Seaford "works" for me?

The line where the engines are sitting is the main stem of the Delmarva line.  You're looking south toward the swing bridge.  The switch that cuts to the right is the beginning of the Cambridge Branch, now operated by the Maryland and Delaware.  There's a big Perdue facility and Dupont's nylon plant at the beginning of the branch that are switched by NS.  The rest of the line is MDDE.

Behind the camera is a long siding, where the MDDE interchange takes place (Brian will correct me if I'm wrong...)

To the south of here is Delmar then Salisbury and Princess Anne, and the end of NS service at Pocomoke City or thereabouts.  From there to Cape Charles, VA is operated by the Delmarva Railroad, including the car ferry to Norfolk.

To the north would be Laurel, DE, Bridgeville (home of Rapa Scrapple... yum!) and Harrington, where the eastern branch splits off, and goes down to the big power plant at Indian River.  Unit trains of coal run down that line pretty much daily.

What else do you need to know?

That pretty much explains it!

Hmm.... how close are those industries?

Judging from the satellite image, things look pretty compact--it would make an ideal modeling subject.

And looking west, from the lot across the tracks from the station.

Sorry, I am late to this thread. Lee, you are mostly right.

Let's start with this...

When I work the Federalsburg line, we come in on track number 241 on the left side of the image. We usually have to throw a switch (or two) to drop our cars off on Track #634 (aka storage). We then proceed east to the switch and then run around our cars that we have left for NS. From here, we take our outbound, which, can be anywhere. Usually they are on the Gas Track, or line #633 in the image, but, there are other places where the inbound freight for the MDDE can be, namely on #632, 842, or, on the new storage (not seen in these photos).

The whole yard is NS'. The MDDE has trackage rights in the yard, and we communicate with NS for permission to enter. The MDDE doesn't maintain any of the track until about a mile west of the yard (I forget the route # off hand).

Hope this helps some. Its fun working in the yard, always something going on. I have only been as far as the depot on the engine, and that was for some propaganda media photo shoot. And Lee, its the Bay Coast Railroad (former Eastern Shore RR) that operates the car float.

There is more to the yard too. #243 is the InVista lead, formerly DuPont. They have a whole bunch of operations going on in there. Lots of coal loads, lots of covered hoppers, lots of tanks. When we have to wait to enter, its usually because of some car bumping going on off this lead.

Ed, very modelable. Let me know if you need more info!

Hmm... hmm....

I KNEW you'd come through for me Brian!

So, here's a challenge. Someone fit this on a door (plus a 2x2 extension off the one end...)

For reference sake, track #634 (storage) holds about 23 cars plus two locomotives. I am not sure what that equals to on a door. Seems a little short to me if you were to model this to scale.

I can deal with some compression where it's not obvious.
