Cut and added sections to get the roof profile correct. The side panels will be removed and reconfigured to be correct. I'm doing it this way to keep the roof profile straight.

Looks good, those old Lima F(P)45 shells are pretty useful after all!

I'd agree with that, but look at the possibilities with the new Athearn N Scale FP45 and F45 shells. You could make a truly high end SDF40-2 or Amtrak SDP40F with those! ..... Man they look good. ;D

I've got 2 F45s on order that will be painted in the BN Executive scheme.  As I'm not a fan of E/F-units, I've decided to run the F45s (not Ps, as the GN had standard models) on the point of my Business Train.

Just cut out a side panel from a FP45 and added that into the SDF40-3 shell. Have yet to added styrene strips for the vertical spans.

Cool, I didn't realise the SDF40-3 was quite so different from the FP45..shows what I know!

HI Simon,
The fans on top, grabs front and rear, lift rings, rear hatches,T vent, horn, Aircon, Sinclair Antenna's x 2 , light bracket, Front nose light etching, Front and rear pilots, fuel tank, air tanks, Stirrups, window frames, windscreen wipers, glass, paint, Scoring panel lines in the rear section.

Just a little bit left eh!! ;D

This look pretty interesting. How are you planning to do the anticlimbers ? SD60 ones and then bending the SD handrails, or will you mak new handrails out of brass ?

I thought of just using styrene to match the profile or I could use an SD60 anticlimber, I have a few extra SD60 bits in the parts bin. As for the handrails, I was going to see what fitted - I'll go the brass route if I have too (I'm not too hot on that but practice makes perfect  ;D)
I think the nose is a bit off against the prototype, that's bugging me at the moment.
