Third!  ;D

I don't have the link for the place to get it, but if you google xtrkcad, you should find it right away. It takes some getting used to, and the yahoo xtrkcad group is a good place to find info about the software.

Its hosted on Sourceforge.  I downloaded the source for the newest version the other day, just haven't gotten around to compiling yet.

I spend all day staring at CAD.  I prefer the tried and true graph paper method.

Funny you say that Lee, that's what I'm doing now. I'm going to round the room on a shelf and work as a real LDE. There are still too many aspects of my modeling that are toy like. I.e. too many tracks close together, structures that don't make any sense and not built for any kind of operation. I'm so hooked on scenery that I forget a lot of operation/track planning elements.

I've downloaded both the Atlas stuff and the Xtrkcad stuff, but both of them have a fairly steep learning curve for me.  I'm leaning towards finding a good plan on the net and copying it.

Thanks Rich need to start with that and how do you see the entire layout room, can you scale it down and use 1:1 later? BTW 10' x 10' for N scale (but of course I have some N Scale Grey Poupon)
