So on a beautiful Sunday afternoon the decision was made and 2 NS and 1 UP Atlas 8-40C and an Atlas NS MP15DC were ordered without Decoders from FRTS. Lets hope Digitrax has something that fits the Dash 8s or releases it not long after the locos. TCS for the MP15 and i am done

Thanks for all the advice

I find that the Digitrax and NCE decoders help my locomotives run quieter at slow speed.  I hate the dreaded Atlas factory decoder hum or buzzing.

"Decoders,Decoders,we don't have ta show you no Stinkin Decoders!" I guess I might make the great leap to DCC some day,but right now I use CVP Radio wirless trottle system on home layout, next best thing to DCC,club I belong to Wasatch N Scale has also been usuing this system for about six years now. That is not to say that I'am anti DCC. Several of my N Scale modeling friends use it ,one has even installed several decoders in Nn 3 locos. Some day our club will probably convert and when that day comes I will have to convert part of my vast fleet, over several hundred locos to run at shows,no not my Phantsy locos like the LA4 Xmas ornament.                                                                                    Hey! I do actually own some DCC locos, one PCM GN E-7 ,three Challengers, and now three Bachmon heavy 4-8-2 locos with "but of course, DCC Onboard".                                                                     Nate Goodman (Nato).

That appears to be the general opinion, the Factory installed are old technology and with the wide use of drop in units why bother.  Get the best of both worlds, latest technology, and ease of installation.
