I went to the N Scale Supply site and what do you know the first batch of Intermountain SD45-2's
have arrived. Now if only they'll release the Conrail and Erie Lackawanna units on time. ::)

the SD45-2 have the same dimensions as the SD40-2 (if this page is right: http://www.trainweb.org/utahrails/drgw/locolength.html)...
...does that mean IM will release a SD40-2 in future ?

and what are the dimensions of the l o n g ICG SD40 ?

Not exactly,

Although the SD45-2 & SD40-2 Share the same frame Intermountain's Frame & Trucks won't work for a SD40-2 (with the shorter hood). However there's so many SD40-2 rumors floating around who knows...

The ICG/Soo Line SD40A Shared the same frame as the SDP45 Not Sure on the Length (Robbman?)

Hopefully this beast won't have all of the problems that Intermountain's tunnel motors had. SD45-2s are pretty cool; with these and the Bachmann Heavy 4-8-2s, I am truly torn. :D

I hear that.  I'm probably gonna cave and pick up a pair of the EL units for some 70s goodness.

I looked at N Scale Supply's page today also and saw the SD45-2's.  I want to add these to my 1984 Conrail fleet, so I will wait to see when the CR units come out.  I'm thinking two, perhaps all four.  I had the pleasure of riding in these units, so I have to have them!  From the looks of the CSX unit on the NSS site, they have the correct fuel tanks (Take that Atlas...CR GP38's and GP38-2's have incorrect size fuel tanks in N scale.).  I still wish they would have did the four 6's.  Thanks.

From the looks of the photos on the NScaleSupply site, they look pretty good and do not have the visible defects that the Tunnels had (have).

I've gotta wonder about the constant pushback of delivery dates of InterMountain models, though. Crossways with the Chinese factory? Over QC or money?  ???

I hate to say this, but the CSX unit has the WRONG fuel tank - it is an ex-CRR/SBD unit...

I was wondering why they were missing the rear louvers

lucky us then - I wouldn't like to see IM f**k up the SD40-2 as well... !

Not to hijack the thread, but what "visible defects" did the IM Tunnel Motors have?

warped frame, cab rivets too large, crooked parts, etc.

So the CSX bright future model is an ex CRR/SBD unit.  Did not know that.  I saw another picture from Intermountain showing a different unit in the "Dark Future" paint scheme.  Maybe that one is ex CR/EL and would have the correct fuel tank that is incorrect on the bright future unit.  I have not purchased any Intermountain diesels to date.  All of these negative comments are making me lean towards saving my money.  $90 a unit is not chump change.  I didn't end up purchasing the Walthers/Life Like GP38-2's since everyone bashed them when I asked for some opinions.  Something about the fans being toy like.  Has anyone got their hands on the Intermountain units who can give a good assessment of the job they did?  I think everyone would appreciate it.  Thanks.
