"An EMD GP9 (also known as a "Dash 9" for short) is a 4-axle diesel locomotive built by General Motors Electro- Motive Division between January 1954 and August 1963"

Crap...

all this time I've been using that term to refer to GE C44-9Ws...

guess I've been wrong the whole time...

It should really be "Auto Voyer" or if you are a Star Treck Fan "Auto Veger".                                      Nate Goodman (Nato).

It's not just railroad terms with which the MTL description writer has problems:

...is painted light gray with lettering in black and white as wells as the black and white...
Maybe this "PS2" is designed to accept containers.

No, no, if it accepts containers it must be a depressed center flatcar with containers:

I see this type of thing all the time in my line of work. People have lost the ability to write and spell.

Ian, what does it mean to "slake off"?   :D  (Yes, I get it. Good illustration!)

Spell checker???

Back in like 1992-3, we used a spell checker and "Runoff" on our VAXes for document preparation (anyone else remember??) at Digital Equipment, where I worked at the time.

We did a huge proposal to Bellcore for minicomputers and proposed (over my objection) our Berkeley
Unix based operating system. Well our tech writer, who had a PhD in English was always correcting
things I wrote so I always went back and checked her "corrections"

She loved this new fangled spell checker. Just before the document went out
she ran it through and told NOBODY and it changed like 400 instances of Berkeley Unix to Brocoli Unix. It went to the customer that way...   Ha, ha, big laughs!!!!

Almost as funny as the time another group sent a $16M proposal to UPS - via FedEx!

Spiel checker. No context checker.

MR is good, RMC is gud, our N mags are somewhat less.

English as a second language is all too prevalent on the net, and in the media. I'd ...  Y botyhr?

My guess is that it's difficult for someone not familiar with trains to shoehorn prototype information into the specific MT-produced model.
How about starting with someone familiar with English;

"as wells as"

I'm still looking for confirmation that they mis-spelled Auto-Veyor on the ATSF autoracks.  ???
I wouldn't normally do this but...

Maybe it can be sold to collectors as an MTL error! Might be worth a bundle in a few years!  ;D ;D ;D

Oh, like the State of Main boxcars? Still my favorite.

What about when they list a car as say "B&O gondola", but it is a Chessie System car with B&O reporting marks?

I really hate this when searching. I see "B&O" and get excited because I could use it. Then I click and see it is really Chessie. At this point I wanna pull a Lee and kill the cat.  Grrrrrr.
