The Cumbres & Toltec runs a photo freight every season.  They restencil the locos for the D&RGW and let the photographers get their fill.  Check out these photos from a few weeks ago.

Photo 10 is truly amazing!

I like #4.

Too bad the re-stencil job is obvious in a couple of them.

Oh well, that's what they made photoshop for! (well, and putting Tom's head in places it doesn't belong)

Keep re-affirming my belief that the C&TS is the best part of the remaining DRGW narrow gauge!

Just love it all! The obvious stencils are worse than keeping the C&TS lettering!

Eric,

Great, been fighting a small bout of fever (narrow gauage, that is) -- even got out some of my Sn3 cars the other day and thought about doing "something with this stuff" -- then you send these pics.  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for providing the link -- perhaps my biggest regret is that I never got to the C&TS when I lived out there -- got to the D&S though -- that was getting dangerous close to an overly touristy outfit.

Marty,

I've ridden the D&S twice and this past weekend was the 5th time for the C&T.  I much prefer the C&T.  They not only let you poke around, they actually encourage it.  The staff is really friendly and seem to enjoy what they do.

My dad and I are thinking of doing a work session next summer.  It would be fun to help rebuild or paint and stencil a piece of 1:1 scale narrow gauge rolling stock.
