Don't get me wrong, I'd love a job description where you can be TOTALLY, COMPLETELY WRONG 75% of the time and still remains employed.

You mean like a major league baseball player, where you can still get paid millions of dollars for that type of performance?   >:(

Weatherman?  Not so much.  Don't get me wrong, I'd love a job description where you can be TOTALLY, COMPLETELY WRONG 75% of the time and still remains employed.

But I make my living as a fisheries oceanographer.

Actually .. my forecast verification statistics were consistently in the 90+ percent ratings .. of course, I actually analyzed charts the old fashioned way .. and applied good old fcst techniques .. not just what some model output said should happen .. :)

Makes you an all too rare breed in the WX business.  Me, I tend to go out and look at clouds . . .  not that fish care much about weather one way or the other.

Hey everyone,

New to the forum so I'm just following directions by introducing myself (ha, ha).  I'm Nate Pierce from the Madison, WI area (small town just northwest of Madison that no one has ever heard of).  I'm 33 and been in n scale for about 20 years.  I mainly model the Milwaukee Road between 1940 to 1950.  I have a home layout that is the West end of the Madison Division from Madison to Prairie du Chien set in 1950.  It is set up for operations and can support 3-4 operators in addition to a dispatcher for about a 3-4 hour session.  I'm active in the Milwaukee Area N-trak club and do several area shows a year with a variety of modules (I think I have a total of 36 feet of modules that I rotate in and out of shows).  I also have a 10' module set that I display with Mini Mod u trak.  I have quite a few Milw passenger trains that I have built out a brass car sides and I custom paint my own rolling stock.

Hope that answers a few questions.  Look forward to sharing information with everyone.

Fear not, these guys are a lot of fun.  But they will insist you get at least one Conrail Consist to run at all times. ;D

I never really formally introduced myself... At least I don't think I did, maybe this is repetitive, but I'm Alex, 16, and model the Lamoille Valley Railroad (Vermont
Shortline). I found Railwire 3 or 4 years ago (John Burkush's daughter was my Junior High Music Teacher) but didn't really get around to posting until now. Other hobbies include trying to stay out of the way of crazy adults at the club, doing fun stuff in semi-alternative rock band, spending quality time with the opposite sex, and watching trains. I do my best to not piss off crowds, and occasionally succeed.

Alex,
Welcome aboard!  I remember doing many of those things when I was 16, though I never had the band.  If you guys ever cut a CD, put me down for one, please.   ;D

Hopefully not necessarily in that order of importance.  ;D

Hello Everyone,

My name is Aaron White and I'm located in Welland, ON, which is about about 15 minutes west of Niagara Falls.  I've been modelling in N Scale for close to 10 years now and lurking at The Railwire for about 4 years. I enjoy pretty much all aspects of the hobby, particularly painting and decaling freight cars.  I'm currently in the planning stages for a multilevel layout based on Conrail ( former Canada Southern) and C&O in Southern Ontario, time frame of 1978. My basement suffered from some flooding this past winter and is currently in a rather unfinished state. It's not all bad though: the railway room will be gaining about 6 feet in length when I get it back together again.

I work for a local "ALCO/MLW powered" short line railway operating company as a yardmaster (about 6 years into it now), though my background is computer programming.   I have found that working for a railway certainly changes your perspective on railroading and the industry. It is still an enjoyable occupation.

I found the Railwire by accident one day, possibly via a link off the Atlas forum. I enjoy the flow of the conversations and the subject matter, especially as a Canadian who prefers US roads and was exposed to NW, NS, Chessie and Conrail growing up. There are so many people who do excellent Canadian modelling that I wanted to do something different.

Oh, and I share the frustration of other members who have others spell their names wrong.  I've lost track of all the variations of mine I've seen at this point!

Looking forward to getting in on the conversations.

Aaron
