Guess it's my turn...

Name's Mark.  I've been a very rare poster (but frequent reader) of the Atlas Forums for a number of years now, therefore recognize most of the names I've been seeing here.  I don't have an actual layout, but have managed to collect quite a bit of stuff over the years including a collection of BLMA parts that seriously probably rivals Craig's own on-hand inventory.  If Craig makes it, I've probably got at least 10.  Not to mention all the other makes of stuff I've got drawers full of.

I have detailed and painted a number of units over the years.  I was working on a proto-lanced "NAFTA Railway" involving KCS/TFM/CN but, after painting a couple units and some cars, I've decided that's not what I want to do.  I'll probably keep the units, I like the way they look, but now I've become enamored with the BN 'Executive' scheme and am considering a layout based on a 'what-if' scenario of BN and SF not merging and a wider roster of Executive-painted power than just the MACs. 

Probably one of the younger guys around, at the ripe old age of 26.  But working as a supervisor for a railroad (BNSF, currently living in Lincoln, NE) you get used to be the young guy in a group.  Can't help much from sharing modeling expertise, but I look forward to being able to answer any questions regarding prototype activities.  You name it, I've probably been involved in it somehow.  Everything from working on track gangs, to locomotives, freight cars, materials, schedule optimization, geometry cars, detector networks, and just about every operational aspect of the business.  I've worn a lot of hats in my short 5-year railroading career.

Mark .. welcome .. I was out goofing off today at lunch near my favorite railfan spot .. the defect detector went off .. CSX DEFECT DETECTOR - 12 AXLES .. Ran out of the truck, and whoosh .. this 2 engine light move came by .. managed to get a quick grab shot ..

Hi, Everyone:
Its a pleasure to join this forum. I've been in model railroading for about 35 years as an HO modeler. But 3 years ago, I began to switch to N scale after moving from NJ to Tampa, Fl. Sometimes I think I moved to the far end of the model railroading universe after moving down here.
I met Ed Kapuscinki at the Timionium show last week where I was selling custom weathered N scale  models with my partner in Thoroughbredrrmodels, Lenny Harlos.He gave me his card and I visited the forum shortly after returning home. I decided to join the forum after I read the discusions in the Custom weathering section.
I am interested in custom weathering,and  kitbashing,etc. Would be happy to share advice on projects and techniques in those areas. Examples of my work can be found on our website: http://thoroughbredrrmodels.com.
I regularly put custom weathered modern freight cars up for sale on Ebay and have 5 cars on sale this week. You can see them by clicking "Bob's auctions" on the left side of the Thoroughbredrrmodels home page. After having been in HO for so long I'm still trying to get an idea of what N scalers look for in their freight cars.
I look forward to particpating in the discusions.

Hi All,
I use my eBay callsign Toptrains but my real name is Al Cutmore. I was born on a dairyfarm on the Darling Downs in Queensland Australia and went to High School by an old railmotor called a Red Fred. The facination for railroads came from that. After a few youth dalliances into things like beekeeping, slaughterman and diamond drilling I entered the Army as a National Serviceman in 1968 for what was to be a two year stint. That finished up being 25 years and I left the Army as a Master Sergeant or in Australian a Warrant Officer Class 1. I got involved in model trains in the early years of my Army days but it was difficult with Living in 13 houses over a 25 year period. That led me more into the Arm Chair modeller field and at the time HO Australian outline was my preferred railway. Once I had completed the first model the scratchbuilding bug had really set in. I found a booklet by PSM I think it was on scratchbuilding written by the master himself, Al Armitage. He has been my inspiration all these years. There was life after the Army but it was bust and I did not get much time to model myself but I did have a business which made Australian Detail Parts and things. In 2000 I had another business offered to me but I declined. However, my wife thought it was something we could do ourselves and it would help fill my day. We bought it and if you go to www.arkits.com you will see the monster it grew into taking up to 18 hours and more a day. That has now lasted nearly 7 years and the business has been sold. I am looking for a rest and have taken a trip back in time to PRR N SCale. I had a fellow modeller from Sydney inform me of the Railwire as being a fair group and indicated the that there was a up and coming release from Railworx on the Thrall 86 foot auto parts car. I have been looking at this for some time now and have been collecting a consist to run on my future layout. Being a geratric (official Over 60, should have my card shortly) I am died in the wool standard DC power. The DCC thing has too many new bugs for me and I have not been inoculated. So DC rules. I note I have at least one true believe on line "Weathering Rules" or as my mate would say "it has been rooooned". MTL are alright but weathered MTL are tops. I loved that photo the other day of the GTW 86 Box in real paint scheme. I am impressed by the good natured banter of the group and look forward to more contact with all.

We met at the Darling Downs Model Railway club last year....I had the N scale Overland Turbine and Pioneer Zephyr.
