Yet another reason not to model HO.

Okay, I admit it, I was bored and the N scale boards are a little slow tonight.  I was over at the A-board and decided to check out the HO version of SNFF (first time, I swear).  You know how some of the N scale SNFF thread starters mention the snacks and drinks at the beginning?  Well, in addition to stealing the entire SNFF thing, they took the snack thing too and guess what they're having? FRESH FRUIT AND CROISSANTS!!! Are you kidding me?  Even if I did eat fresh fruit and croissants, I sure wouldn't brag about it on an internet forum.  ::)

Sounds like they're trying to outlive the N scalers, that's all. Fresh fruit is a helluva lot healthier than potato chips, fer shure.  ;D ;D ;D

Yeah, but the point is, it's not real food.  It's pretend.  Pretend food has no calories or cholesterol. If I'm having made up food, it's going to be something like deep fried cheese nuggets and Guiness beer or double cheese pizza and root beer floats!

Sparky, know what crudités are?? Raw vegetables for dipping in sauce. Well, some years back, as Chairman of the Railroad Contact Committee, I was in charge of arranging the cocktail party (and paying for it) for the Southeast Association of Rail Shippers at a Doubletree in Atlanta, GA. The payment was the real problem as the higher the individual price per railroad, the fewer railroads would pay, which drove the per railroad price higher! IIRC the Doubletree charged $15 for a plate of veggies and $45 for a bowl of potato chips. The party was heavy on veggies and potato chips were banned.

When questioned, I pulled the "heart health" routine!!  ;D ;D ;D

BTW the other cocktail party that year was at the Hilton in Mobile - we had angels on horseback, crabmeat puffs, even caviar, because the hotel didn't see the food as the revenue source, only the booze. That was a good meeting, as I managed to get the state yacht for a tour of the harbor through a friend at the TASD Railway.

Beer & pizza at my place. Then we go to a steak house for dinner. I wonder if they(HO guys) serve quiche,or is that reserved for bigger scales? ???

And just what is wrong with a good Quiche Lorriane??  ???

Don't assume all N scalers eat the same diet as you.  :-X

Throw some good MD bluecrab into the Quiche Lorraine and you have a mighty fine dish which goes with either wine or beer.  Good Eatin.

I know what JJ(Tivo) and I like. ;) While visiting the Atlanta area recently on vacation, JJ and I got together for lunch, a couple southern BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, fries and a coke. ;D 8)

Thanks again JJ for the southern hospitality.  :)

Methinks N scalers have such a massive inferiority complex that if they didn't rip on HO scale their whole existance would crumble apart!!

 :P

What's wrong with fruit and croissants, anyway?

No, it's just a larger ant hill to kick than the other scales.  ;)

Nothing wrong with fresh fruit. Not so sure about the croissants though, I prefer GCB's rolls with some honey spread. When I'm in the US, you can find me at the Golden Corral Buffet... mmmm, GCB.

You American's don't know how good you have it, nothing like GCB or Old Country or Home Town in Canada. Sigh, I just got back from 12 days of vacation in the US, now I have to wait until my Erie, PA. trip in October for more  :'(

As for HO, it's not ripping on it that keeps N scalers going, it's ripping on N scale mfg's that keeps things moving. HO is just a sideline some dabble in between N scale mfg's new announcements/releases.

In HO on the other hand it's more like: "Check out the dozen new things that got released this month. AWESOME!!"

3rdrail: whatever.

Everyone always rags on HO, I figured _someone_ should take the other side.  :P
