Never send a boy to do a man's job... ;D
All you need is a sharp blade, a good file, and lots of back bracing.

I also used strip styrene to make a cornice between the first and second floors, and a similar structure at the roof line.  This really helped stabilize things.

The pieces I had were so warped I soaked them in hot water to straighten them and then braced them.  They were fine for a day or so but "snapped" back - like memory plastics. :(

So I stick with freight cars now...

Thinking back the other thing I did (I think) was cut the sections down the middle.  This allowed me to cheat each piece a little to compensate for any pre-existing bends.

Damn, Lee, your layout looks even better close up than it does in the aerial views you seem to show so often! Since you have enough experience that you said you considered applying for the editor's job at MR, when can we expect to see some of that great work gracing the pages of N-scale or N Scale Railroading if not Model Railroader?

They do pay something, you know.  ;D ;D

That's a REALLY good point!

Lee, what are the specs on your camera? If you write, I'd be more than happy to lend a hand with the photos.

A quick project this week to bash a B-mann bobber into a logging caboose.  Black roof and chalk weathering.

Best regards,

Roger

Those aren't aerial shots... they're comprehensive overviews... ;D

I can "get down" with the best of 'em... It's just that Ed's puny little camera fits in more spots than my S-3 does.

I have learned a few tricks about exposure time, though...

And Gregg, I'm not in it for the money... It's the chicks I'm after!

That is a classic line.

We need to talk. I've yet to meet any Model Railroader Groupies, Lee.

I worked on a small Photo Diorama, but didn't get it to a stage worth photographing.

That's a "money shot", Lee. Send it in to MR for Trackside Photos... or better yet, their photo contest!

From your past descriptions, we all know that's not a backdrop, but the slanted ceiling under your roof. But in this scene, it could easily pass as the sky of in impending storm!

Your scenic work is outstanding!

WOW.  I wasn't going to post this week 'cause I'm late, but you guys have been incredibly inspiring.

Here's my contrib.  Working through planning the construction process for the NKP SD-9 detailing job.  I'm considering submitting an article to OBTR.  "Road Switchers:  Why What's Above the Frame Doesn't Matter"  ;)
