This old Alco was at what was then Wimpey Minerals .. at the same spot that Rock40 took the U23 picture above ..

It sat there for about 3 years, and then finally was scrapped .. here is a couple of shots of that process .. not very good pics since it was dark .. and I scanned them with an old scanner ..

Back in 1998, I was invited for a shop tour at Cumberland Md, as part of the annual shop Christmas party for employees ... CSX700 was new at the time, and still the pride of the shop ..

Amazing stuff - I wonder who the 'undecorated' Class 66s are for?

Wes,

The 'undecorated' Class 66s are part of an order for Mainland Europe, probably for use by DLC Railway in Belgium.
The Bardon Aggregates liveried one is for Freightliner Heavy Haul in the UK, who have the contract for Bardon Aggregates trains, and the Freightliner PL ones are for Freightliner Poland.

I hope that helps.....

John,
I'm pretty sure that Alco was a former WM S-2 or 4.  I'll have to look it up in my Funk and Wagnalls.

Look closely, those are GPs :p

GP40 4046 and GP38 3856. Goderich and Exeter doesn't run any 6-axle power.

Hope one of you guys (Robbman) can identify this locomotive. I think its a U boat in former Conrail blue with its original numberboards still working the rails at the Tarmac facility near Jessup, MD. For you local MD guys, that is Route 32 behind and on top of it. I shot this one today.

it's former CR #2779, a U23B. i can't remeber if it a LV or PC unit.
