 ;D

June 1984 at Pepper Avenue overpass, West Colton, CA...I caught this specially painted SP SD40 for the Los Angeles Olympic games. It was quickly repainted the next month back into scarlet and gray...and unfortunately a few months after that in September of 84, the unit was demolished in a collision.

Since Monday was a holiday here, I set off to further my photography of the Spalding to March line, I walked from the Forty Foot River goods yard down to the Whitemoor marshalling yard, which is still in use, albeit truncated and with a heavily reduced capacity. Sadly since North end on the yard is now a prison, I didn't dare to take many photos of the stuff I could see in the yard, especially since I would have had to venture slightly of the footpath to do so.

I'm lazy today, so just one from me. What would you give to have been standing on the front platform of this North Shore Line interurban as it met an opposing train with both going over 60 MPH?

Sure can't do this today!  :o

Check out the terrible weathering on this tank car. Man, steaks and stains from no identifiable source, very unrealistic.;D

Same guy must have done this, can't even tell a wide nose from a standard nose. Don't even get me started on the number boards. 8)

Red Rock, the guy did a nice hatchet job on the number board. Some people really shouldn't show their work in public  ;)

Must be a steam fan, you know, 'cause all diesels look the same, right?

i am good friends with the SRNJ clan. i will be there in a few weeks. the 102 will be going to salem soon. the gons are for the trash train that the SRNJ is planning to run from AC. they will be moving casino trash and construction debris. kaslo manufacturing makes that kit, and it has just released it. they are a canadian company. i forget their web address. google it. there are a few different versions of the M420W. eventually, the entire SRNJ M420W fleet will have solid red bodies, with the SRNJ/CNJ stlye logo on the middle hood within a white stripe like the blue gp10 #102. the nose stripes, like you see here, and white cab faces, will also adorn these units. they are a growing rr co., with a bright future.

Does SRNJ still run the 727 and 728? I miss those locomotives very much  :-[  I grew up with them idling literally in my backyard when they worked the Western Allegheny (along with 721B), and hearing them notch up the power as they started moving towards the Blue Row Tipple here in Dewey.
