Here is a production picture from 7/2023, I'm not involved.

My understanding, there was an issue with the roof, after the master was created, so a new master needed to be created. Why it has taken so long to recreate, idk.

I don't know if there are any plans to create any variants, R7, NX23, MOW X23.

Here's where my M5 project currently stands.  (This is the less common welded version. I'll add the rivets for the more common version later.)

Etched metal details needed are the roofwalk and the end railings and ladders (and probably the grabs as well).  If people really want etched details, now is a good time to finish the project.  Otherwise, or if there isn't enough interest to make it worth Bob's time, I'll do 3D printed parts from flexible resin like what Marc Haas did for his recent LV caboose here:  https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=58678.0

I had no idea you were doing an M5.  Awesome!

Any chance you could rework your bay window caboose into an Erie or a EL bay window caboose?  How about an Erie Dunmore Caboose?  Those all made it Conrail so that may help the market for them.

I have been trying to get a hold of Joel or Teresa Prantle at Precision Scale Co to get Brake Castings. I know I had over 500 cars worth when I stopped, but have been unable to find them so I need to purchase more. A lot of the cars I still have on hand are prepackaged and ready lest the brake castings. Your overwhelming response was not expected and exceeded my “Ready to Go” stock.

UPDATE: PSC just replied back with a cost of $34 per car for brake castings (2 air hoses, air resv, brake cyl and distributor valve in plastic no less) plus a 6-9 month wait to get them. I can not absorb that cost nor could I expect others to pay it in addition to the brass etching. Whatever product I have ready to go will be sent to the first requestors. All others will be given a choice to except w/o castings or cancel. So hang tight and let me see what I can find.

Unless I can find another alternative, this will halt all future rolling stock.

I think PSC misunderstood you, Bob. You need them made out of brass, not gold.   :scared:

I am totally perplexed as well Judd. I can only think that the person at PSC has no clue about trains. I have replied that there must be a mistake and to requote. Have not heard back yet. Here was my email and reply.

I suspect three things may be true- 1) they think you are ordering hundreds of PACKAGES of parts (at four parts or more per package, since to them, "ea" means package ie- sku number, not individual part.  And 2) you may need to establish a wholesale account with them, because they are charging you retail, with some small discount (if 1 is true) OR 3) Their wholesale discount is higher than I think it would be, and the person doing the calculation accidentally multiplied by 10.
