Home Shops now in N scale !

HOME SHOPS is a model railroad company that specializes in bringing quality freelance equipment to market! We work with freelance model railroaders and fantastic manufacturers to make available beautiful and unique Limited Edition Model Trains!  Up until now, it has been exclusively HO models.  They just announced their first N scale model featuring 7 different freelance railroads, including the V&O, the Virginia Midland and Cat Mountain among others, on Atlas USRA Rebuilt Steel Box Cars.  Information can be found here:

I hope the N scale release goes over well, as I'd like to get some more modern equipment from other freelance lines such as Tim Garlands Seaboard Central, KEVIN KLETTKE Washington Northern, and a few other good looking schemes.  I'm sure @Ed Kapuscinski will be getting the V&O cars, now that he knows they are out there if he didn't know already.

I hope they do some more modern era N scale releases. I worry that transition era boxcars might not play as well in N scale as something from this century.

Nice!

For me all are okay with my cutoff of 1950 except the Cat Mountain, Delta lines and Virginia Midland have repaint dates too new.

Keep up with the pre-1950 cars please.  Maybe some Midland Road boxcars and hoppers. John Armstrong's C&S?

Excellent news! I may get the V&O, as I missed Fox Valley doing a run with a B&O boxcar several years ago. I hope they offer Allagash and Cass County in the future.

Exactly!

I would love many of these on more modern cars, but I can't think of a way to sneak in cars that would be illegal to interchange by my era of interest.

https://homeshops.net/

This is new to me, haven’t seen it mentioned before. I guess it’s not new to HO.
I could go for a Delta Lines boxcar.

reinhardtjh:  If the reweigh dates (next to the LT WT stencil) are too new, you can easily change them with decals.  Cars were required to be reweighed periodically, so unless the car was just painted, it would probably have been reweighed at least once, and possibly several times, before it reached you.  Just paint out, or scrape off, the old weight and date, and add a new one.

I actually had custom decal sheets (Tichy and Highball) printed consisting of nothing but reweigh data and dates, just to redo my entire fleet.  That was a pain...

Good point.  I had considered something in that line, but truthfully I was using the repaint date mostly as an reason not to order all 16 cars.  I ended up ordering 8 as it is.
