RE: Reversing Loop Suggestions

My n scale Unitrack layout is powered with the ESU ECoS and the Kato turnouts controlled by DCC Concepts ADS decoders. All work extremely well. I want to introduce a reversing loop at one end and be able to run trains unattended at times. I have checked out both the Digitrax AR1 and the MRC AD520 but I understand both require my switching the turnout upon exit from the loop - so not unattended. I'm hoping someone can suggest an alternative that works with my hardware.. I looked into the Digitrax BXPA1 but I think it requires Loconet to operate. I DO have an L.net converter from ESU but I am not sure if it supports anything beyond Loconet-enabled throttles.

I think there are PSX-AR versions that will automatically throw an Atlas snap switch ( 3-wire) when they do their reversals.  That is intended to provide for continuous running, like you want to do.  The problem is that those do not work the way the 2-wire Kato switches work, and I don't think the PSX-ARs are made for the 2-wire Kato type switch mechanisms. 

One work around would be to use one of the PSX-ARs to throw an Atlas relay, instead of an Atlas snap switch.  Then use the relay to power something like the capacitive discharge circuits for throwing the Kato switch.  Those were discussed here https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=57564.0 .

Or, there are probably electronic means to tell your switch decoders to throw, but I am not familiar with the equipment you are using.

Thanks for the reply. I have found that the PSXX-ARSC device from DCC Specialties is supposed to work with Kato turnouts, but I am waiting for a reply from DCCS (actually Tony at Tony's Train Exchange) for more information. The manual for this device is outdated and misleading. For example, it isn't clear if the connections from the device to the turnout are plugs or solder connections. Also, I am still trying to understand how the turnout is set initially before the train enters the loop. Is there still a means to set the point direction from my DCC controller as I do now with all my other turnouts? I'll wait until I get more information, but thanks for the response.

I would go here  https://groups.io/g/Tam-Valley-Products/topics and ask Robin if his QuadLN_S might do what you want.  I've never used one but just from lurking it looks like this thing can do just about anything.
