I recently had in my possession for a few days a ScaleTrains UP "Fast Forty" to figure out a solution to the rail-rubbing fuel tank.

Took me about 15 minutes, and four tools to do it.

I didn't realize that this was some sort of widespread issue. And wow, you have got to be kidding me - they glued those fuel tank screws in place?? What the hell for??? No wonder I couldn't get them out - there's no way I can get a good enough grip on a skinny little jeweler's screwdriver to generate that much torque. For me it would take something that I can wrap my whole fist around

I feel I'm missing out. I see your posts about your Scaletrains SD40-2's rubbing their fuel tanks on the rails but mine doesn't. I've got a clear 2mm gap between the bottom of the fuel tank and the top of the rails. track is Kato Unitrack. I have a BN one

Same problem removing overtightened screws on some rollingstock trucks (not glued though). I use pliers held at 90deg a jeweler's screwdriver to grip it. It's not the most elegant arrangement, but it does the job.
