Very cool. I am certain the herky-jerky, racing operation was due only to someone's impatience and unsteady hand at the throttle.

Part of it could also be the movie-to-video conversion.  Different frame rates can cause problems. 

It turns out that much of the footage of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge collapse had been converted to TV video at the wrong speed, because they didn't understand exactly what type of movie camera had been used.
