If you have to do HO...

HOn30 is great if you don't mind building a lot of what you need and having a high standard for operation will require hand building track.

HOn3 is great if you have deep pockets, hunting down and buying all the best running brass or Blackstone locomotives will get expensive fast.

The Toma locomotives are out and around $200, I just got mine and highly recommend them!

Yeah, it still says it's for sale. But because I spent almost all my money allocated to model railroading on a resin printer, it's safe to say I probably won't be getting one anytime soon  :(
