Swapping drivers - Bachmann K4 to J3a?

I really want to model one or two J1d NYC Hudsons with spoked drivers.



Has anyone tried to swap out the boxpok drivers and use the K4 spoke drivers? I have not yet taken mine apart, but looking at Mark’s (Spookshow) photos of the driver set, I’d have pull one wheelset apart to use the existing gear. It is interesting to me that they engineered these two locomotives so differently.

Interested in anyone’s experience in doing something like this.

While I have not done this before, the first thing I would do is measure the actual drivers on the model to see if they’re compatible or workable
