Thanks for the heads-up on this. My brothers and I had a memorable afternoon chasing UP's Big Boy a couple years ago. Calendar marked for this one.  :D

I chased 2816 three times in Ontario in 2004 iirc; to Niagara, on the Belleville Sub, and around Mactier. It's neat to see steam on the mainline, but the foampile is more than I can stand... foamers everywhere. Granted, I was one of them, but I can't stand crowds whether they be at a photo location or on the road between.

I'll happily sit this one out.

One of my favorite chases, was Milwaukee 261 running from Minneapolis to Chicago on the BNSF on a weekday deadhead 'unadvertised' run..
15ish cars, all but 1 in Milwaukee paint, no diesel helper..   Very few railfans.. Almost all of my locations, I was the only person there.

Sounds like a made to order day.

I’m happy to see that another Class 1 has embraced the “steam ambassador” concept and that 2816 will be out rails again. It’ll be be nowhere near me, but hopefully CPKS will continue the program after this (really long) tour is complete. I wonder what sort of reception mainline steam will receive in Mexico?
