My first try with clear resin on my Mono X.

For my first attempt with clear resin, I tried to print some ice blocks for my layout’s icing facility.

Here are the results. The first pic is only swished in one vat of dirty IPA. The second pic is the second of the two blocks 5hat did print. It dropped into the dirty IPA and I had to fumble and push it areound like a piece of eggshell till I could get it out. Now it looks like a frosted block of ice. Happy outcome.

Also surprised how clear the print is, even after a single cleaning.

A second print is coming after I tripled the 2 second exposure time to 6. At least
I can see prints on the supports this time!

Whose resin? The clear I have from Anycubic is more translucent than transparent like you show. That looks like something you could actually make windows out of.

I was actually contemplating mixing clear and translucent green this morning to see if I could create realistic passenger car windows.

How cold were you able to make them?

@Chris333 , see below, lol. Print just finished. I have noticed that the cure station time for this resin is REALLY long though. 30 minutes was still tacky.

Ready for acetone bath.



This is what I use to drain the acetone back into the can, else it will quickly evaporate, even in the sealed container.



After Acetone bath. Note the loss of clarity.





After a quick dip of the ice back in the resin vat, just to see if it would restore the clarity (don’t care about the other part). After that a quick absorption touch with a quicker picker upper to eliminate the bulbous sides, but still leave some resin behind.



After curing 30 minutes with and without the thin resin coat.

John put future floor polish on them. It will be much thinner than another resin coat and you can do the same process for the windows.

Based on the pic after the second cleaning and prior to the acetone, nothing seems necessary at all with this resin.

Can you share some clear pics done that way? This particular resin is much thinner than I am used to, so I think it could have been brushed on as opposed to dipping.
