I made some progress this weekend on my Hon30 20"x30" layout the Black Hawk & Ironwood

End of first day

Bridge I designed and 3d printed from resin. I used Blender to apply the texture.

Second day (some of the track is just "laid there" and not glued - thus the squirrelly ties). Gaps are where pc ties will go.

Opposite end of the layout with the new wooden box bridge

Not as impressive as the earlier posting of the Blue Bird with its fantastic kitbashed observation and Pullman dome, but the Wabash Cannonball somehow found it's way to a Tucson train show today.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Continuing work on my next Chicago landmark using CMR's City Hall.  I have added the lower wings in front, front steps and outer wing end walls. Some fine tuning is next and then a distinctive roof.  After paint I will work on the window panels and finally, the sculpture on top.

Best regards,

Roger

One of my first professional jobs was working for an architect that did tenant remodeling in the famous landmark.   Was on the way to make field measurements in an upper floor and the elevator would not stop.   Had to press the emergency button.   Still have nightmares of shooting out of the roof.  The Willy Wonka movies are among my least favorite!

I've elected not to tear down and rebuild the layout (see the thread in the Layout Engineering report) due to the time and cost of the endeavor .. I've started rebuilding sections of the original build. This area is the helix / nolix that connects the lower level with the upper ..  The M&O is an Appalachian railroad - this is my focus here

Roughed in the terrain around the upper level helix exit .. the three turn helix is in another room ..

I wasn’t happy with the #7 crossover I had designed, so I confirmed I had enough room for a Fast Tracks standard-template #8 and replaced the first attempt. That completes the right-of-way in the New London section, other than animation and electronics.

I then moved on to the cove area. Construction of the trestle bridge was completed and the trestle was used to finalize the height of the cove basin and begin to determine positions of the cove structures.

I took a few photos of my N scale 1938 Super Chief on the Modutrak layout at Trainfest in Milwaukee, WI this past weekend.

Oriental Limited brass cars.  The E1 A and B units are 3D printed shells painted, detailed and weathered by me mounted on Kato E7 mechanisms.

Some of my other varnish running on the Modutrak Layout this past weekend:  CNW 1939 "400", Frisco "Meteor", MKT/Frisco "Texas Special".

The photos of the 400 are taken on a model of the CNW lakefront depot built by Keith Kohlmann.  It is almost entirely scratchbuilt using original plans and period photographs.  The photos do not do the model justice.

photos might not do it justice, but I think you could remove all of the trains from those depot shots, and they would still be mighty impressive.
I’m not here to argue

I had some cars decaled up by a guy that has a steadier hand than I. Here are two that I'd like to share. The Iowa Interstate car is close enough to the prototype. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

There is a feed mill in Massey, Maryland, but they get mostly ADM cars and do not lease any of their own equipment. So, this is purely fictional.

Will this be the CBOT?
