Durango and Silverton

Flying to CO to see my daughter and driving down to ride the Canyon on the Durango and Silverton RR. Looks like fun. Spending the night in Silverton then riding back to Durango Friday.   I'll report later.

Hope you enjoy doing the full up & back…. The day separation should help. When my wife & I made the full up & back on the train on the same day, frankly I was ready to get off that rocking & rolling train about 1/3 of the way back. We didn’t see anything on the return trip we didn’t see going up, so the bus ride back was looking much more appealing to me. The roadbed isn’t in the best of shape, of course which is historically accurate.

My son and I did both the Durango Silverton and the Cumbress on back to back days - both were awesome .. we did a photo special on the DS which included several runbyes .. its a definate bucket list trip .. enjoy

Personally, between the two, I liked the Cumbres & Toltec in Chama, NM better.
