GE had some "standard" paint schemes. The orange and cream is one of them. The St Johnsbury & Lamoille County in Vermont had 70 Tonners in this scheme, and I've seen pictures of a shortline in the south, Alabama perhaps, I'm not sure, that had more 70 Tonners with the same paint. It was cleaver of GE. They can paint the engines all the same and just change the lettering as the customer demanded.

The orange and cream scheme wasn't a GE thing, it was a Salzberg family thing.  Here's a list of Salzberg owned lines that used the scheme on their 70 tonner or similar small diesels.

Fort Dodge, Des Moines and Southern Railroad
Arkansas Valley Railway
Unadilla Valley Railway
Arkansas and Ozarks Railway
St. Johnsbury and Lamoille County Railroad
Jamestown, Westfield and Northwestern Railroad
Wellsville, Addison and Galeton Railroad
Des Moines and Central Iowa

Amazing work, Jim.

After spending most of the last 18 months doing installs in a friend's large HO fleet, this thread reminds me that it's really N scale where the innovators are.  Though I guess one day we'll see sound boards for Z scale stuff . . .

While going by how miniaturization is progressing that is likely true, the limiting factor will be the size of the transducer (speaker).  That is something that cannot be miniaturized and still produce decent sound. well, unless someone invents some sort of tiny device moving large quantity of air.  Not something that can be done using conventional moving diaphragm transducers.

Thanks John,

There was an install video for this one on YouTube by Ron Calhoun who also did the 44 tonner. Mine is very similar, I just added my own spin on how to install by tidying up the wiring and adding a powerkeeper. I couldn’t be happier with how well this runs and sounds.
I’ll bet there are Z modelers out there watching and thinking “You think that’s cool? Hold my beer and watch this…”
