help iwh programming a lot sound 5 nano with a lot sound 4 file

Just to cover all the bases, what is the model number of your decoder (example: 58923).

58923 is the nano...... it should have about 128k but this one only reads 16K. most likely it is a blown memory.

Just wanted to make sure it wasn't a LokPilot Nano by chance (which I guess is an FX only decoder, so that's probably not it)

the flash memory is junk.     it only reads about 16,384 mbytes.  it should be aboutd 256,xxx mbytes.

Ok, that confirms it.  I suspect it is kB not MB, but yes, the Flash size on the bad decoder is the problem. Not enough Flash memory for the sound file to fit. The error was accurate.

so I was able to scrounge up another nano decoder today.   it programed fine. work like a charm.  no problem with any of the files that I tried in the previous night.  And for the troublesome one.  it has bad memory.  It will be going off to ESU in Monitorsville tomorrow.    Thank you everyone who offered suggestions. it helped me in rethinking and reframing of the problem. I have installed close to 430 ESU sound decoders over the years and this was the first one that was defective out of the chute.
