The Red Caboose. A hobby shop so bad, it made it in to the New York Times.
There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

Well, if everything is MSRP that's actually an improvement from the 1980s.   I remember finding a Con-Cor N-scale boxcar I wished to buy on the shelf .  The proprietor pulled out a catalog, decided that the car was no longer in production (almost certainly true) and assigned it a price around 3x MSRP.

For all I know that car is still in the shop!

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Ok, since it looks like we're putting out cards on the table. When we went into the city Dec 2019 we went the the Red Caboose. I was pretty much  fire trap and in the basement as i remember it. Hard to move around due to the isle space was so narrow.   But as mentioned here the prices were insane.
Mom asked if I was getting something. i said we're getting outta of here.  I left very disapointed that what I thought was something special back in the day was just a way over priced trashy place that gouged the prices.  I never need to return there.

Yes, Red Caboose is an experience.  But if you are looking for New York subway cars, or other new old stock, there may be no substitute.

I mean, to be honest while its a bit more than a discount dealer. Its usually cheaper than an ebay slap fight, and often the only place you'll find something ran once in 1995.
