That piece that runs the length of the cab, looks like it has a couple brackets holding it on, and is angled at the ends. What is that thing?

A walkway (unsure of the proper term) for a crew member to get from the cab to the front of the locomotive without getting on the ground, there would also be a hand hold along the top of the cab.

Not at all unique to the PRR either.
