So, at $30 each for the same old tooling should mean that the previous cars are worth at least 50% of that. I will sell mine for $15 all day long. It never seems to work that way though.

*What? You mean you have  mint condition, vintage, in original box, with $1.59 on sale price tag, with genuine Rapido coupler (not to be confused with Rapido, the Canadian manufacturer)(sometimes referred to, I kid you not, as "NMRA standard couplers" by eBay sellers) Bachmann cars?  Why, those might go for more than the current MSRP, at least in the minds of the sellers on eBay.  *

*lest anyone take me seriously, the above is intended as humor.

Hmmmm....maybe it is time to put my half dozen Bachmann cars up on eBay....That Celanese tank car might be a real collector's item....

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

Nah, places have them for preorder for less than 300. Probably only $1100…

Kidding aside, if you have one of those Celanese cars you want to let go, I'd be into it.

For $30 each!!!

It's not only the price that gets me but the road name selection.

It's like Bachmann's product managers simply don't know things about actual railroads.

Like why do a gray CSX hopper scheme on a car from the 30s?

Or why did they do the much less common (especially today) CSX YN1 paint scheme instead of the modern one that people see (or YN2 which people also still see)?

If they're going to make these choices and sell them at discount prices to the "I just want a train" market, I get it, but when you couple the paint scheme, model quality and price, it all adds up to make no sense.

Does anyone have any insight into what's going on at Bachmann?
