H0 scale TP56 / TP70

I´m Mariano from Buenos Aires, Argentina. This is my first post.

I´ve been reading the N scale TP56 thread, very educative. That bring me some courage to draw mine on sketchup for 3D printing. Since I can´t pay nothing outside my country due to government regulations I can´t buy from shapeways or nowhere. So, why not print mine?

I started reading a lot, comparing pictures and the drawings around the net.

Then I took an SD40-2 drawing for reference and a TP56 builder drawing (that green drawing most of you know)

Maybe I´ll buy a Kato truck because it smothness, but I will start with a blue box athearn truck, later I will research about the electric engine.

By now it´s just a garbage bin (I started to draw almost an hour ago.)

Hi, I'm the author of the N scale thread.

That green drawing is of the prototype which was shorter than other TP56. 

The key spotting feature is a fuel tank.  The first one has an internal tank hidden in the engine compartment.
If you see no fuel tank, then it's shorter.
If you see a tank, it's longer.

if you are doing the one with the fuel tank, the distance from pilot to pilot is 360".

I submitted an article to Model Railroader and they accepted it.  It includes plans- but they have not published it.
(I wish they would).

Thanks for your answer and all your knowledge provided in that thread.

 I knew that the first locomotive was born from an old Canadian SD40-2, I noticed the detail of the lack of the fuel tank, but I didn´t know that the length varied since the photos didn´t allow me to compare between one and another. So I appreciate the information.

My idea is to build the one with the tank since that translates into more space for counterweight, motorization and installation of a decoder.
Now I am busy with some personal issues, but as soon as I have progress I share them with you.

Just Wait. MR will post your article, it´s very inspiring, innovative and easy to build.
