I posted this in the Weekend Update, but wanted to park it here as well.  This is an overview of where the layout stands today.  Most buildings are just placed in the scenes.  I have a lot of detail work, landscaping, road painting, static grass, etc. to do, but this will give you an idea of where I am heading.

Love it !! I found the WC boxcar in the correct spot and a couple of P&W boxcars too (both former employers) all you need to do to get another like from me is a BAR GP-7M for the trifecta>

I already have the decals and paint ready for the HRRC #22, (BAR GP-7M).  I am hoping the new Atlas GP7 and GP9 releases coming out (someday) will have frames that allow for a low hood without a lot of milling.  I will have to make a "Topeka Cab," but that should not be too difficult.

Thanks for posting this - what a large amount of work!  Your scenery is really coming along, and I really love your large industries.  QUestion for you: at the 2:45 mark, the backs of some row homes are shown that have porches and stairs - did you scratch build these are are they from a kit?  I have similar structures to build for my Harpers Ferry module, which is why I am asking.  Thanks!  Bob

Thanks.  Those homes with the porches are a combination of DPM kits and the walls with porches are from the Earl Smallshaw "Tennement Row" laser kit.

The porches line up well with the floor spacing on the DPM kits.  The prototype buildings (in New Milford, CT) that these represent are brick, but some have vinyl siding on the rear porch area where there was an addition.

I'm happy that will help you out.  I just paint the parts on the carrier sheet and then assemble them.  There may be some touch up needed, but it will be minimal.

This weekend I want to try an experiment that will add solar panels to the roof of Becton Dickenson, in Canaan, CT.  Recent Google Earth images show the recently installed panels.  Here is a screenshot of the actual location and an overhead of my model.  They apparently also re-did the roof when the solar arrays were installed.

This is a proof of concept trial run, with laser printing of an actual solar panel image on overhead transparency film.  I'll mount them reverse side up to represent the glass face, on racks tilted at 22 degrees like the prototype.  I will need to paint the backs.  I am thinking possibly Tamiya transparent blue with silver behind that to get some of the bluish tint seen on most solar arrays.

I predict this will work great.  I even triple printed on the transparency film back in 2018 to obtain frame window mullion height.

I have not had a chance to work on the solar panel project yet.  I did, however, take a few high angle grab shots this morning, to help me start planning the next layers of scenery and detailing projects I will need to work on.  I liked this one enough to share, even though the area is still very much a work in progress.
